Is Clarifying shampoo a waste?

There are a ton of clarifying shampoos on the market that claim they will remove build-up of overly used products, etc.

However; if you don't want to spend the money on those shampoos there is one product that you probably already have at home that can be used, dishwashing detergent. Original Dawn Soap is my preference.

I use it whenever I notice my hair losing fullness and feeling limp and just blah in general. At least every month or so. 

Mix a little with water and lather well, let it sit for a few minutes, rinse and follow up with a deep conditioner suited for your hair type.

I am always amazed at the difference afterward. This is obviously my opinion and may not work well for everyone
