Allergy Blood test and why it matters…

As a lifelong eczema sufferer I was always told it is flared from allergies, which meant I had to go to an allergist and get pricked on my body a million itchy and painful times and get prescribed monthly allergy shots. After years of doing this on and off and the numerous topical steroids and cold compresses. I quit because all of this did nothing to change or help my eczema. Other than to let me know what affects my sinus’ and what doesn't.

Fast forward 20 or so years and my eczema condition had not changed. I had to go to my general practitioner for yet another severe rash flare for another steroid shot to help calm it down. They decided to do a blood allergy test. I had never had one before so I was naturally interested to see what it revealed.

When we got the results back I was shocked! A ton of different foods were a trigger. However; the highest scores came from oats and eggs. All of those years of oat baths and oat creams, etc. to “calm” my eczema were actually making it worse and obviously no more oatmeal for me. After contact with oats an immediate rash will start to appear. I can still eat eggs, but only in moderation; as in 1 every other day.

In saying that after 40 years of fighting the eczema fight every day and dealing with the pain, embarrassment, and being severely uncomfortable all over my body at all times I am mostly eczema free now outside of the rare flare that happens for whatever other reason.

If you are a skin issue sufferer; go get the blood allergy test and you may also be surprised by the results!
